Access Panel Specification
The MD.PF.FF/FR120 (Metal Door, Picture Frame, FlipFix, Fire Rated 120 Minutes) access panel is a 2 hour fire rated access panel (in both a wall and ceiling) according to BS476: Part 22: 1987. Featuring a Picture Frame and Metal Door, this particular panel is a dual purpose Access Panel, this means the panel can be used on a wall or ceiling. As standard, this panel comes with a budget lock and tee-key and can be purchased in small access panel sizes and large access panel sizes, alternatively, we can manufacture a panel to your custom bespoke size. Please contact us if this is something you require. These access panels are suitable for inspection purposes only and aren’t suitable for personnel access.
Note: This product has a 20mm mitre-less picture frame detail on stock sizes up to and including 600x600mm & a 25mm wide mitred picture frame detail on all bespoke sizes and stock sizes above 600x600mm.

What is structural opening and how should I cut the hole for the Access Panel?
Structural opening is the size of the hole in your wall or ceiling. When cutting a hole for the Access Panel 5mm larger than the panel size. For example, when ordering a 600 x 600mm panel, cut a 605 x 605mm hole.

Do you sell Ceiling Access Panels?
All of our Access Panels are dual purpose, this means they can be used in both a wall and ceiling system. If ordering a Fire Rated Access Panel, we recommend checking the fire rating integrity in a wall and ceiling separately. (Some panels are 2hr fire rated in a wall and only 1hr fire rated in a ceiling – This should be stated clearly on the product).
What is the difference between picture frames and beaded frames?
Picture frames are 25mm frames around an Access Panel and the frame will be visible when installed therefore, you do not have to worry about how neat the hole is. The beaded frame allows you to plaster over it, so only the door is visible (and not the frame).
